Dalton Sargeant Makes his Third NCWTS Start with Wauters Motorsports at Martinsville Speedway

Charlotte, NC - (October 27, 2015) Dalton Sargeant will make his third career start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at Martinsville Speedway, Saturday, October 31 in the Kroger 200.

Sargeant, the 17-year-old NASCAR Next driver and full-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series East participant will be piloting the Wauters Motorsports No. 5 GALT Toyota Tundra.

Sargeant has impressed with his first two NCWTS starts during the 2015 season with a 10th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway and a ninth-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The last driver to score three top-10 finishes in their first three career NCWTS starts occurred in 2013 with Erik Jones.

Martinsville Speedway offers a unique set of challenges for the rookie driver as he only has one career start at the historic .526-mile short track originally built in 1947. That one career start came in a late model stock car during the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 just one month ago, Sargeant was knocking on the door of a top-10 performance when a succession of two right front tire failures ended his day.

Dalton Sargeant:

“Making my third career NCWTS start at a place like Martinsville Speedway will definitely be the biggest challenge of the year for me. Competing in the late model event at Martinsville was a real eye opener that mere practice laps by yourself just can’t simulate. It is truly a tough short track and racing side by side with cars the entire length of the event is a huge challenge. I personally loved the track, and the mentality you have to have to pass and get around competitors. If anything, the driving style required suits me a little better because of my road-racing background and brake management mentality, it reminds me a lot of hauling down a straightaway and getting to a hairpin, but just repeat that for 200 laps. Either way, racing at such an historic venue as Martinsville Speedway on a Saturday in front of the Cup garage will be a great way to showcase this GALT Wauters Motorsports Toyota Tundra team. We are all looking forward to the challenge and can’t wait to get started with practice on Friday.”

Richie Wauters has twenty-two starts as a crew chief at Martinsville Speedway, posting three top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes with drivers Kyle Busch, Aric Almirola, Denny Hamlin and Shane Hmiel.

Richie Wauters:

“I’m excited to bring Dalton (Sargeant) to Martinsville to run the No. 5 GALT Toyota Tundra. He is definitely a talented driver, posting two top-10 finishes in just two starts in the NCWTS. Martinsville is a difficult track though; you have to manage your tires, keep your brakes cool and frankly, just try to bring the truck home with all the fenders on it. Dalton has raced in a late model there, so he has some experience on the paperclip shaped track. Hopefully we will be able to bring home another top-10 or better finish for the team this weekend.”

Practice for the Kroger 200 from Martinsville Speedway will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 at 1pm Friday, October 30 and final practice at 2:30pm. Qualifying will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00am Saturday, October 31 with prerace coverage beginning at 1:00pm. MRN & Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Channel 90 will begin live coverage Saturday at 1:00pm.
