Charlotte, N.C. (August 28, 2016) - The 43rd annual Oxford 250 once again brought the best late model drivers in the Northeast to compete at one of the most famous bullrings in short track racing, Oxford Plains Speedway. The event consisted of two full days of practice with heat races, qualifying races and consolation races to fill the coveted field. Dalton Sargeant finished 5th in his heat race, missing the transfer position by one spot which placed him in the consolation race. Sargeant and the Windows 10 Toyota Camry led every lap of consolation race number 3 and transferred directly into the Oxford 250.
Starting 25th in one of the most competitive field of cars that Sargeant will see all season, the No. 55 methodically marched forward all race, gambled with some pit strategy and ultimately finished in the 15th position.
"Wow, this was a really tough race with the amount of experience in this 42 car field, in fact its probably one of the toughest races I'eve ever run. We were battling with some of the best drivers and teams in northeast all race long, so it was a lot of fun racing in such close quarters but with really great drivers who respected each other. We missed a little on setup and when you miss a little at a place like that where each driver races all season long its really tough to come back from. Fortunately, I have a great team behind me and we rebounded nicely at the end of the race to finish in the 15th position. We adjusted all race long, played some pit strategy on older tires to gain track position so all in all we learned a lot that we can apply to other races and tracks."
