Charlotte, N.C. (March 24, 2015) – Dalton Sargeant and GALT are proud to announce that they will be making their debut in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at Kern County Raceway Park in the NAPA Auto Parts 150 on Saturday, March 28. Sargeant will be driving for newly formed Jefferson Pitts Racing in the No. 55 GALT Ford Fusion, with Kris Bowen as crew chief. Sargeant is fresh off a second-place finish in the SRL Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park, which was instrumental in the relationship with Jefferson Pitts Racing.
“We’re all really looking forward to going to Kern County Raceway Park for the first round of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West schedule,” said Dalton Sargeant. “It’s easily one of the nicest NASCAR HomeTracks facilities in the country and offers some really high speed, side by side competition. I really enjoyed the people, facility, and racing while we were competing at the Winter Showdown and ultimately came up one position short of the victory. The very next day we started working with Jerry Pitts from Jefferson Pitts Racing who was also at the track that day and put together a program to come back for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West event. It’s great to see a high quality race team actively looking for talent and they wanted to take a chance and put me in the seat of their No. 55. I’ve got to thank everyone at GALT, HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks and my East Series crew chief Kris Bowen for allowing me to do this and gain extra seat time in a NASCAR K&N Pro Series car. I’ll be taking all the same guys from my No. 51 HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks team out West and we’ll try to build on our second-place finish we had at our NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut at New Smyrna Speedway in February.”
Newly formed Jefferson Pitts Racing was created by veteran crew chiefs Jeff Jefferson and Jerry Pitts, both former NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship-winning crew chiefs.
“This is a great opportunity for Jefferson Pitts Racing to make an immediate impact in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West,” said co-owner Jerry Pitts. “We had the pleasure of paying close attention to Dalton Sargeant at the Winter Showdown and he was really impressive. Couple his racing talent with our equipment, and the setup we bring to Kern County Raceway Park and we expect to be a threat to win.”
“We definitely have an all-star lineup for our NASCAR K&N Pro Series West debut,” said co-owner Jeff Jefferson. “Dalton Sargeant will be joining Gracin Raz and Noah Gragson, and although all three will be rookie drivers, we are very confident that one of them will be in victory lane at Kern County Raceway Park. It’s been a whirlwind few weeks with putting together a program for Sargeant and preparing cars for Raz and Gragson, we’re bringing back the car that Greg Pursely won with last May so we’re all really excited to see how our young crop of drivers perform.”
The NAPA Auto Parts 150 on Saturday, March 28 will be televised on NBC Sports Network on Friday, April 3 at 6:30pm EST. You can also follow along with live updates on Twitter (@DaltonSargeant), and also on HomeTracks.NASCAR.com.
