Charlotte, N.C. (December 3, 2014) - Dalton Sargeant and the No. 5s Victor Ford, Wauters Motorsports team will attempt to make their first career start in the 47th annual Snowball Derby in Pensacola, Florida at 5 Flags Speedway. Car Owner and Crew Chief Richie Wauters will attempt his 20th Snowball Derby, with one win as a crew chief with Steve Wallace coming in 1994. Practice for the Snowball Derby begins Thursday with the prestigious 300-lap event on Sunday, December 7.

16-year old Sargeant will be making just his seventh career super late model start in just his first full season not only in stock-car competition, but his first season competing on oval tracks. In 2014, Sargeant has 38 starts between late model and super late model competition and has recorded 2 wins (Orange County Speedway and Virginia International Raceway) and 27 top-10 finishes. Sargeant also has momentum coming into the Snowball Derby, as he has a consecutive top-10 finishing streak of five events, dating all the way back to October.

Sargeant, who resides in the Sunshine State of Florida in Boca Raton, has one career start at 5 Flags Speedway coming in September of 2014. It was the first career super late model start for Sargeant, as he qualified in the 17th position and raced his way into the top five before ultimately finishing in the eighth position. This weekend’s 47th running of the Snowball Derby, will mark Sargeant’s second start at the historic ½-mile speedway.

Dalton Sargeant:

“The Snowball Derby is the single biggest short track event in the country and I’m excited just to have the opportunity to try and make the 36-car field. The caliber of drivers and equipment that come to Pensacola are the best of the best, so if we make the field it would be a huge accomplishment for our team. With that being said, we had a really good test here a few weeks ago, good enough that we believe the No. 5s Wauters Motorsports Victor Ford Fusion will be able to contend for great finish on Sunday. I’ve got a ton of confidence in our team, equipment, and the amount of experience I have behind me. Richie Wauters has been coming to the Snowball Derby since 1994 and has had a number of great runs with numerous different drivers, that experience helps me every time the car is on track. Along with Wauters, we have Bobby Gill who has won the Snowball Derby as a crew chief once with Johanna Long in 2010 and also 1993 and 1997 as a driver. All these factors and a brand new race car we are debuting here in Pensacola is why we have so much confidence and momentum coming into our first Snowball Derby together. I definitely think when Sunday comes around, we’ll be one of the dark horse’s with a chance at a great finish at the end of the day.
